A downtown mural of the late Rep. John Lewis has been finished.

Four artists worked on the 3,000-square-foot mural, which is across State Street from the Kenneth B. Keating Federal Building.?Titled, "I Am Speaking," it depicts Lewis delivering an impassioned speech in 1963 and is based on a photograph snapped by Danny Lyon.?

The Lewis mural is part of a series of works by Ephraim Gebre, Darius Dennis, Jared Diaz and Dan Harrington. Rochester muralist Sarah Rutherford, who mentored Gebre during his time with Roc Paint Division, the city's youth mural arts program, also assisted.

Lewis, who died earlier this year at the age of 80, was a major figure in the civil rights movement. The Democrat represented a Georgia district for more than 30 years.

Correction: An earlier version of this story had one of the artist incorrectly identified. The name has been corrected.
